Former Balochistan governor warns govt against being indifferent to troubled province

ISLAMABAD - PML-N legislator Lt General (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch has warned the government that its indifference towards Balochistan would augur well neither for the province nor for the country’s integrity.

Baloch made these comments in the National Assembly on a point of order, but no one else in the House shared the concern expressed by him, the Dawn reports.

He raised the issue of custodial killings- allegedly by the Frontier Corps- that he said had paralysed most of the southern and central Balochistan, and also the issue of reappearance of FC posts that had been removed under the Aghaz-i-Huqooq Balochistan package.

He said that the bodies of seven youths had been found over the past few days, and that they were reported to have been picked up by FC personnel in raids on their homes.

Baloch said he had been voicing concern over such actions, which had been reported by the international media and also taken up by US Congress and other forums.

But “our own government is unmoved”, said the former governor of Balochistan.

He said people were enraged over the re-establishment of FC checkpoints that were removed under the Aghaz-i-Huqooq package, and warned that such actions were not in the interest of national integrity. (ANI)
