In UK, the severe weather has wrecked havoc with fuel supply and caused widespread fuel outrage in many places. National Grid PLC the natural-gas network operator of U.K. has said that the fuel demand will be soaring.
In France, the situation is no better. Eric Besson, the French Industry and Energy Minister asked Electricite de France SA, the state-controlled utility to make its nuclear reactors available so that the crisis situation can be dealt with. He also said that the users should cut down on electricity consumption. Air traffic has also been severely affected and many airports inclusive Gatwick in London has canceled many flights. Gatwick had to remain closed for the second day and so was the case with London’s City Airport and Edinburgh Airport. The other airports that suffered from snowfall include London’s Heathrow, Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Paris’s Charles de Gaulle, among others.
