London subway workers go on strike
LONDON — Union activists are mounting picket lines outside London’s subway stations as workers get ready for a one-day walkout.
The strike will begin Sunday evening and is expected to cause traffic chaos during Monday’s morning rush hour.
Transport for London has planned more than 100 extra buses and changing planned road works to deal with the strike.
London Mayor Boris Johnson called the walkout irresponsible. He claimed that London Underground — know as “the Tube” — was able to operate about a third of normal services during the previous one-day strike in September.
