LONDON - A two and a half year old Indian boy measuring 4ft 5 ins is believed to be the tallest toddler in the world.

Karan Singh, who is the son of Asia’s tallest woman measuring 7ft 2 ins., is twice the size of his friends of the same age in Meerut, India, and his record-breaking mother believes this is just the start.

“He was born big and is already half as tall as me, so I believe he will outgrow me soon,” the Telegraph quoted basketball-playing Shweatlana Singh, who dwarfs her husband, Sanjay, who himself towers over most people at 6ft 7in.

Karan, who was twice the size of normal babies at birth, weighing 13lbs and measuring 2ft, never fitted baby clothes and now wears clothes designed for children aged 10.

The constantly hungry toddler eats five apples in a go and demands ten teaspoonfuls of honey a day. In total the family spends 124 pounds a month on food - almost three times their neighbours’ budgets.

“When Karan wakes up in the morning the first thing he does is ask for food and tea. Whenever he sees anybody eating, he asks for food.”

“He’d never stop eating if I didn’t force him to,” she added.

When Karan first went to nursery school, teachers initially refused to admit him, insisting he must be old enough for primary school.

Mrs Singh is preparing to represent India in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi next week at basketball and says she will send Karan to America if he, too, excels at the sport.

Reflecting on his giant, “very special kind of family”, Mr Singh said they hope to be given the title of the tallest family in the world one day. (ANI)
