Kia August sales down 19 percent in August

IRVINE, Calif. — Kia Motors America said Wednesday that its August sales fell 19 percent over last year, a month in which overall auto industry sales were pumped up by the Cash for Clunkers rebate program.
BY THE NUMBERS: Kia sold 32,465 vehicles in August, down from 40,198 in August 2009.
TOP SELLERS: The 2011 model year Sorento. Kia sold 9,063 in the month.
HOT MODEL: Sales of the Forte compact car were up 54 percent to 6,260.
