Low-key vacation for president on Vineyard
CHILMARK, Mass. — So far, the most exciting moment of President Barack Obama’s vacation on Martha’s Vineyard has been a trip to the bookstore.
Since arriving Thursday, Obama and his family have avoided the island’s ritzy restaurants and swirling social scene, instead staying close to home at the 30-acre farm they’re renting.
Obama has appeared just once in public, visiting the Bunch of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven with daughters Sasha and Malia.
Other than that, he has ventured out only to golf — twice — and to enjoy a picnic with his family on a private beach.
