Downed tree in NJ leads to Northeast Amtrak delays
TRENTON, N.J. — Rail riders are facing delays along Amtrak’s busy Northeast Corridor because of signal problems.
Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole says a tree fell on overhead wires near Hamilton, N.J., around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. Trains are moving at greatly reduced speeds between New York City and Philadelphia while repairs continue.
Cole says Amtrak passengers should expect delays of up to an hour.
NJ Transit had stopped service between Trenton and New Brunswick, but resumed it at 10:50 a.m. Trains into and out of New York are facing delays of up to 45 minutes.
