Security forces recover a huge cache of explosives in J-K

POONCH - In a joint combing operation, the security forces seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch region.

Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said the Indian Army personnel and the Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation Magnar forest range of the District on Monday.

“During the just conducted search operation, we discovered a hideout in the upper region of Magnar forest range. From that hideout, we recovered explosives in a huge quantity. These include 10 kilograms IED explosives, AK ammunition 25, 2 RPG shell, 1 kilogram of RDX, ID wire fuse and 27 ID wire bundles,” said Singh.

“We also found a radio set and a few necessary items required for living, including blankets,” he added.

Singh further said the recovery of such a huge quantity of explosives before the Independence Day and during the annual Amarnath Yatra season is a major achievement for the forces.

Earlier, on August 1, the security forces seized a similar huge cache of arms, which included 30 kilograms of RDX, from a militant hideout in Rajouri District. (ANI)
