POONCH - The army organised an ‘Iftaar’ (a ritual ceremony of breaking fast during Ramzan after dusk) party for the residents of Krishna Ghati sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch District.

The locals participated in the feast on Tuesday with full enthusiasm and said that it would help in increasing communication between the civilians and the Army.

“We are happy that the army officials employed in this region have organised an ‘Iftaar’ party for us. This will help in decreasing the differences between the civilians and the Army,” said Mohammad Azam, a resident.

The Brigade Commander of Krishna Ghati sector also joined the ‘Iftaar’ party. At the event, he said Krishna Ghati sector is one of the sensitive border areas and all efforts have been made to maintain peace.

“I give full assurance to the locals that no bombings and firing in this area will happen again as we are on alert. If any kind of problem arises from the other side, then we will surely give answer to them, whether it is bombings, firings, militancy or infiltration,” said Dushant Singh, Brigade Commander of Krishna Ghati sector, Poonch.

“In our country, all the religions including Hindu, Muslim, Sikhs and Christians live with love and brotherhood and with this feeling we have organised this ‘Iftaar’ party,” he added.

Army officials said the party was organised with a message for Pakistan that Muslims living in Krishna Ghati sector are the real Indians, and they are ready to face any challenge from Pakistan. By N. S. Sasan (ANI)
