Amtrak service resumes east coast service
WASHINGTON — Amtrak says several major services along the east coast will resume normally on Saturday.
The railroad south of Quantico, Va., reopened Friday afternoon after a CSX coal train derailed there a day earlier, blocking all tracks. Virginia Railway Express reports that five train cars fell and ripped up the tracks. Canceled trains on Thursday and Friday have affected thousands of riders.
Trains running between Washington and Newport News, Va., and from New York to Miami, Charlotte, N.C., and Savannah, Ga., have been affected by the track closure. Amtrak’s Silver Star Train No. 92 from Miami to New York remains canceled for Saturday.
