NATO: 3 international troops die in S. Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan — NATO says three international service members have been killed in an attack by insurgents in southern Afghanistan.

NATO announced their deaths on Tuesday, but did not disclose the nationalities of the service members who died.

Their deaths bring to 36 the number of U.S. and other NATO troops killed so far this month.

June was the deadliest month of the war for both American and NATO forces. Casualties are rising as Afghan and NATO forces push farther into Taliban strongholds in the south.
