James Bond’s ‘Goldfinger’ car breaks down

LONDON - Spy master James Bond’s souped-up car with ejector seats, machine guns and other gadgetry emitted an “unhealthy” rumble and broke down at a public display here, dismaying onlookers who had come for a glimpse of the fabled car.
The coveted Aston Martin was towed away due to a worn-out clutch, a far cry from its heydays when it performed outlandish gimmicks at the touch of a button.
The 1964 Aston Martin was one of two identical cars driven by actor Sean Connery in the hugely popular Bond films - “Goldfinger” in 1964 and “Thunderball” in 1965.
The sporty DB5 was making its first public appearance in a decade Saturday at an event at Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire, Daily Express reported Sunday.
“Smoke filled the air and an unhealthy noise rumbled from the engine. It was a bit embarrassing,” an onlooker was quoted as saying.
The car is to be auctioned in London later this year and is expected to fetch over 3.5 million pounds when it goes under the hammer.
