60 dogs leave California for Canada on private jet
LOS ANGELES — Sixty dogs have been loaded onto philanthropist Jan Folk’s private jet for a three-hour flight to Edmonton, Alberta, where she says they will all have new homes within two or three weeks.
Friday’s flight is the fourth sponsored by her Orange Dog charity since it started one year ago. Folk has now escorted 312 small dogs to Edmonton.
Capt. Aaron Reyes of the animal control authority for communities southeast of Los Angeles says 30 terriers, cockapoos, yorkies, chihuahuas, bijous and other breeds from his shelter were loaded on the Gulfstream III, along with 30 dogs from the Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Reyes says the dogs are all unclaimed, unchipped, untagged dogs that have been at the shelter between 13 and 30 days.
