Police seek cause of vet crash at Ohio parade site

WEST CHESTER, Ohio — Police are trying to determine what caused a car driven by a World War II veteran to go off an Ohio road and injure people lined up for a Memorial Day parade.

Authorities say 84-year-old Everett Cole’s car rolled over and hit a tree in front of a house in West Chester, just north of Cincinnati.

Cole and two other people have been treated at hospitals and released. An 83-year-old Korean War veteran remained hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday.

Cole had been assigned to drive a car in the parade Monday morning. The accident delayed the parade’s start by 30 minutes.

West Chester police say no charges have been filed pending an investigation.
