Spirit Airlines vows to settle with pilots
MIRAMAR, Fla. — Pilots for Spirit Airlines say they will go on strike June 12 if they don’t have a new contract by then.
The declaration Wednesday came after the pilots’ union turned down binding arbitration to settle the dispute.
The union says company management has done everything imaginable to avoid giving Spirit pilots a contract in line with other low-cost carriers.
The company says it’s still working to negotiate a contract. But it also warns it could start notifying employees of possible reductions.
