Dalai Lama leaves for United States

DHARAMSHALA - Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Sunday left for the United States on a 15-day visit here on Sunday.

During his visit, the Nobel Peace laureate Dalai Lama is scheduled to deliver religious discourses at various places and also interact with the Tibetans in-exile residing in the United States and Canada.

This is Dalai Lama’s second visit to the US this year.

Ineracting with media persons at the airport, the Tibetan Prime Minister in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche said that it is going to be a cultural-cum- religious visit by the Dalai Lama.

“His Holiness is going to the US for the second time this year. His first visit would be in Mongolian-Tibetan religious centre in some of the states. Then thereafter he will also visit New York for religious teachings and also meeting the Tibetan community,” said Samdhong Rinpoche.

The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to deliver lectures at various American universities and attend numerous social functions, besides participating in public talks.

At Kangra airport, before embarking the Dalai Lama interacted with a host of students, who had gathered to meet and bid adieu to him. (ANI)
