Official who sued self can run for Conn. office

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut official has won the right to run for state attorney general after she had to sue herself to prove her qualifications.

A superior court judge ruled Wednesday that Democratic Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz (BYE’-suh-wits) had enough experience as a lawyer to run.

A Democratic blogger had suggested she did not have the required 10 years of active legal experience, so Bysiewicz sued her own office and state Democrats.

She was grilled for days during the court hearing and said she will be “undaunted by the noise from the opposition.”
