Russian skydiver killed in California accident
PERRIS, Calif. — A skydiver from Russia has died after his parachute collapsed and he plunged to the ground during a group jump over Southern California.
Perris Valley Skydiving general manager Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld says the man was about 50 feet above the ground when his parachute bumped another skydiver’s chute and collapsed Friday morning.
The Riverside County Fire Department says the man was in full cardiac arrest when firefighters arrived at Perris Valley Airport and was taken to a hospital.
Brodsky-Chenfeld says the man was from Russia, but he couldn’t release his name.
He says about 30 jumpers were doing free-fall formations in a training session for experienced skydivers from around the world.
