Obama: Recovery must reach Main St.
NEW YORK — President Barack Obama says the economy is recovering quickly but the progress needs to be felt more deeply among the millions of unemployed Americans.
Speaking at New York’s Cooper Union college, a couple of miles from Wall Street, Obama says “we’ve seen the fastest turnaround in growth in nearly three decades.”
But, he says, “we cannot be satisfied” until “this progress is felt not just on Wall Street but Main Street.”
Obama spoke Thursday in support of his efforts to pass legislation that would overhaul financial reforms.
