Plane with engine trouble lands at Calif. airport

FRESNO, Calif. — A United Airlines spokeswoman says a plane carrying 15 passengers and three crew members has arrived safely at Fresno Yosemite International Airport in central California after experiencing mechanical trouble.

Airline spokeswoman Robin Urbanski says United Express Flight 6237, which was being operated by SkyWest Airlines, was traveling from Las Vegas to Fresno on Monday night when the pilot shut down one of the engines “as a precautionary measure” while approaching the airport.

Crews from the Fresno Fire Department were on hand for the plane’s arrival. But Urbanski says the landing just after 6 p.m. was on time and otherwise routine.

She says the source of the plane’s troubles is being investigated by SkyWest.
