Boeing to fill order from Somon Air worth $163 million

SEATTLE — Boeing said Thursday that it received an order worth $163 million from an airline in the central Asian nation of Tajikistan.

Somon Air, based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, placed an order for two of Boeing’s new extended range 737s. It is Somon’s first direct purchase from Boeing.

Somon is the country’s first private, full-service carrier. It currently runs flights from Dushanbe to cities in Russia, Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Boeing shares added 98 cents at $65.43 in afternoon trading.
