Dylan’s first canvas paintings unveiled in London
LONDON — A London gallery has opened an art show billed as an exclusive exhibition of Bob Dylan’s first paintings on canvas.
The show at the Halcyon Gallery, in London’s elegant Mayfair district, features a collection of the musician’s paintings based on sketches he made while on the road from 1989 to 1992.
The exhibits at “Bob Dylan on Canvas” are available for sale — with price tags ranging from 95,000 pounds ($148,104) to 450,000 pounds.
Dylan said in promotional material released Wednesday: “I just draw what’s interesting to me, and then I paint it.”
He said: “I’m not trying to make social comment or fulfill somebody’s vision and I can find subject matter anywhere. I guess in some way that comes out of the folk world that I came up in.”
