First family goes back to school for evening event
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama switched from affairs of state Thursday evening to matters closer to home and hearth.
The first family took a motorcade to Sidwell Friends School in Washington, where Malia, the Obama’s older daughter, attends school and had a recital.
The Obamas spent about an hour at the school event, but the White House provided no details.
Earlier in the week, in a roundtable with reporters, Michelle Obama was fretting that younger daughter Sasha needed to finish up a school paper on Wednesday night, so she’d be able to attend Malia’s recital on Thursday.
“Those are the things that are running through my head on a daily basis,” the first lady said.
Just before leaving the White House with Mrs. Obama, their two daughters and the first lady’s mother, Marian Robinson, the president spoke to House Democrats about health care reform, the economy and relief efforts in Haiti.
