Reid not ‘going to dwell’ on Obama comments

APEX, Nev. — Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid says that since he’s apologized for his comments, he now wants to move past criticism about his characterization in 2008 of then-candidate Barack Obama as a “light-skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect.”

He says he’s not, in his words, “going to dwell on this anymore.”

Reid told reporters Monday in his home state of Nevada that he has apologized to the president and everyone else within the sound of his voice.

Reid was appearing at a news conference to announce federal economic recovery plan financing for a new electricity transmission line in Nevada.
