Japanese brake manufacturer expanding in Kentucky
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear says a Japanese brake company is adding 70 new jobs at its Elizabethtown headquarters.
Beshear says the job additions were a result of his trip to Japan in October.
Akebono Brake Corp. is planning to invest $800,000 in the Elizabethtown facility by adding 12,000 square feet of office space.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Akebono Corporation for tax benefits up to $800,000 under an incentive program called the Kentucky Business Investment Program. The incentive can be earned over 10 years through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments.
Akebono opened its first Kentucky facility in Elizabethtown in 1987 and now employs about 1,500 people in the area.
