WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden has left Washington to spend time with his ailing elderly mother.
The White House says Biden returned home to Wilmington, Delaware Thursday where other members of his family had already gathered. The 92-year-old Jean Finnegan Biden became seriously ill in recent days.
Biden had been scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama early Thursday, and take part in meetings with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
