Obama supports top officials after botched attack

WASHINGTON — The White House says President Barack Obama is standing by three of his top security officials following the attempted airline attack on Christmas Day.

Spokesman Robert Gibbs says Obama has full confidence in Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, director of national intelligence Dennis Blair, and CIA Director Leon Panetta. All three are among the high-level officials who will meet with Obama at the White House Tuesday to discuss the reviews the president ordered after the failed attack.

Gibbs wouldn’t say whether any officials would lose their jobs over the incident, saying he would wait for the reviews to be completed.
