KOLKATA - Two people were killed by suspected Maoists in West Bengal’s trouble-torn West Midnapore district and their bodies were found Wednesday morning, authorities said.
One of the victims was Sadhan Mahato, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) supporter, who was shot dead in Pirakata of West Midnapore.
The other victim, Habul Patra, was killed Tuesday night by Maoists in Lalgarh area of West Midnapore. Maoist owned-up responsibility for his killing through pamphlets they left behind.
The guerrillas said they killed Patra because he was a police informer.
Both Mahato and Patra were abducted from their homes Tuesday night. Their bodies were recovered Wednesday morning.
