Romanian witches could be fined or jailed for wrong predictions

LONDON - A new bill has been proposed by Romanian authorities that could see witches being fined or even jailed if their predictions do not come true.
The new bill emerged after the government began taxing witches on their business in January after they changed the law to officially recognise the centuries-old practice of witchcraft as a taxable profession.
The move prompted angry witches to dump poisonous mandrake into the Danube in an attempt to put a hex on them.
The latest bill was passed in the Senate last week, but must still be approved by a financial and labour committee and by the Chamber of Deputies, the other house of Romania’s parliament.
“They can’t condemn witches, they should condemn the cards,” the Scotsman quoted Queen Witch Bratara Buzea as saying.
“I will fight until my last breath for this not to be passed,” she stated.
She argued that people sometimes don’t provide their real identities, dates of birth or other personal details, which could derail a seer’s predictions.
Critics say the proposal is a ruse to deflect public attention from the country’s many problems. (ANI)
