NEW DELHI - Asserting that nothing has been done to curtail inflation, the Opposition on Monday dubbed the General Budget 2011-12 to be directionless, saying it has brought no relief to the common man.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha, who was the Finance Minister of the country during the rule of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government, said the budget is ‘completely devoid of reforms’.
BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar, while terming it to be a ‘futile exercise’ said the budget has no proposals to contain rising prices and offered no relief to the common man.
BJP veteran Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said the budget has nothing for the poor and the farmers.
” The government has not taken any concrete steps to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks,” he added.
Meanwhile, senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta said the budget is directionless, and added that the Finance Minister has not outlined from where he would mobilise the resources.
Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav said there is nothing new in the budget, and nothing has been done to curtail inflation. (ANI)
