MIRANSHAH - At least five militants, including two foreigners, have been killed in drone strikes in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, according to officials.
Local administration officials said that the foreigners were of ethnic Turkmen origin and were driving near Mohammad Khel in the Dande Darpakhel area, the BBC reports.
Local tribesmen said that the first missile struck the car carrying the Turkmen militants, destroying it completely.
Moments later, two more missiles struck a house that was allegedly used by Taliban militants.
Three militants were killed in that attack and several others were injured.arpakhel, which is located about 30km (19 miles) west of the tribal region’s main town of Miranshah, is known to be a hideout for al-Qaeda militants.
According to the report, it also has several training compounds for foreign militants.
The covert, CIA-run program launched around 115 attacks last year in Pakistan, more than double the previous year. The strikes have continued at a similar pace this year, and nearly all have hit the North Waziristan tribal region. (ANI)
