Wild bisons injure six villagers in West Bengal district

COOCH BEHAR - Two wild bisons strayed into three villages in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district and injured around half a dozen inhabitants.

The bisons attacked the villagers in Marichbari, Amtuli Hat Gopalpara and Kankanpuri.

The villagers informed the Range Forest Officer, who immediately deputed a veterinarian to tranquillise the bisons.

Veterinarian, Dr. Manas Kundu said : The two bisons might have come from the nearby forests of Chhatrapati or Buxar Tiger Reserve (BTR) area. They have caused severe damage and the situation is being monitored by the Divisional Forest Officer(DFO)”

The six injured persons included two women who were admitted to a civil hospital in Cooch Behar.(ANI)
