NEW YORK - US First Lady Michelle Obama has reportedly chosen a new stylist - her personal assistant Meredith Koop.
Just days ago, the First Lady’s rep confirmed that she was still working with Chicago boutique owner Ikram Goldman.
But the White House has revealed that the role is now being played by 29-year-old Koop, according to the Washington Post.
“Ms. Koop’s responsibilities include advising the First Lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price and buying on discount if discounts are available,” The New York Daily News quoted Kristina Schake, a spokeswoman for Obama, as saying.
Koop used to work for Goldman - she was sent to Washington to work closely with the First Lady to see to her day-to-day wardrobe needs.
Now it seems that Koop has replace Goldman’s post.
Koop is still a mystery to much of the White House, according to the Post.
She’s taken down her Facebook page and has declined interviews.
Koop has been making deals with designers all over the map, from American designer Rachel Roy to Indian-American ballroom gown designer Bibhu Mohapatra.
However, the designers refuse to comment on whom they work with or how the deals are done.
“I think that, out of privacy for the First Lady and the family, I would prefer not to say who I deal with,” Rachel Roy told the Post, adding only that she works closely with the White House. (ANI)
