KULLU - Thousands attended the traditional eight-day-long Fagli Fair or demon fair on Sunday in Himachal Pradesh.

The fair started with the beginning of the Phagun month of the Hindu calendar and ended in Kullu with Kotlu, a ritual where local youth put on demon masks and perform traditional dances.

“This is a very old tradition and is celebrated throughout Himachal (Himachal Pradesh). It is a very important ritual, especially the Kotlu ritual is very important. We call it Fagli and it represents the relationship between the gods and demons in the olden days,” said a local.

Snowfall and road blockages in the region did not hinder the locals from attending the event. (ANI)
