KOHIMA - Acquiring a Masters in Business Administration (MBA or M.B.A.) is the new buzzword in Nagaland and students from various academic disciplines aspire to become business tycoons and heads of multinational companies.

Yengao Konyak, an MBA student, who is presently pursuing her management course from Nagaland’s Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University Centre, sees herself playing an important role in a multinational company in the future.

Konyak’s dreams reflect the changes taking place in Naga society.

“Along with my interest, I feel that I have more scope in this field, and so, other than going for anything else, I joined a management degree,” said Konyak.

Just like Konyak, scores of other students in Nagaland are opting for management courses after completing their graduation. They are being trained to make proper management decisions through analytical skills.

“I have an ambition to become a great business tycoon. And that is the prior reason why I have joined this course,” said Vikato I Chisi, a management student.

“I have a vision to takeover my family business and this course can help me a lot in achieving my goal,” added Achamo Kikon, another management student.

Nagaland does not have many management colleges, so majority of students either go out to study or take up conventional subjects.

“Government should welcome more of such institutions of this nature. And it is a good thing to start such colleges here,” said ICFAI University Dean CP Alexander.

Moreover, the militant activities have affected the growth and development of the state over the years.

“Considering the present situation, multi national companies have been facing a lot of restrictions from the insurgents, which is actually the main problem. Over the years it has prevented the potential of students,” said Wapangsenla Imchen, a lecturer at ICFAI University.

The youngsters here are determined to prove themselves and conquer the world. They believe management courses are their mantra for success and will help them to achieve their goals. (ANI)
