‘Kin want blood for blood, not payoff over double murder-accused Raymond Davis’

LAHORE - The brothers of two Pakistani men shot dead by Raymond Davis, an American citizen, in Lahore have rejected the idea of a financial settlement, with one brother insisting that he wanted ‘blood for blood’ not a payoff.
Davis has confessed to shooting dead Mohammed Fahim and Faizan Haider in Lahore on January 25, allegedly in self-defence. A third Pakistani was struck and killed by another vehicle that was reportedly racing to Davis’ aid.
During Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry’s visit to Pakistan, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had floated the idea of settling the dispute through blood money, and it was reported that efforts had been initiated in that direction.
Mohammed Wasim, Fahim’s brother, said that the US Consulate in Lahore had called his family for a meeting with Kerry, but they refused.
“We only want justice. We want blood for blood and nothing else,” the Nation quoted Wasim, as saying.
Imran Haider, Faizan’s brother, said that his family had not been contacted by American officials, but also rejected the idea of compensation.
“Our brother was killed by Raymond Davis, and we need justice,” Imran said. (ANI)
