‘Hard working’ shot US Congresswoman Giffords tells husband her condition is “better”

WASHINGTON - Gabrielle Giffords, the US Democratic Representative who was shot while meeting with her constituents in Tucson, Arizona, is working hard to “speak more and improve,” with reports saying that she had even uttered the word “better” on being asked recently by her husband how she was doing.
“There’s lots of excitement as she continues to speak more and improve. She’s in a great mood and working hard,” The Telegraph quoted a family friend, as saying.
Doctors of Giffords, who is currently in the rehabilitation centre, have also called her a hard worker who puts in a lot of effort to complete her therapy every day. They, however, warned that in many cases, patients with similar injuries like her often make progress for several days before encountering a day when their muscles become weak or tired.
“It happens quite frequently. We don’t even panic anymore, because that happens,” the paper quoted Dr. Gerard Francisco, who heads the team of specialists treating Giffords, as saying.
Earlier, it was claimed that Giffords had been putting in efforts to learn speaking from mouthing words to lip-syncing nursery rimes like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”.
The shooting rampage had killed six and injured 12 others. (ANI)
