NEW YORK - Lara Logan’s former boss has said that the sexual assault and brutal beating of the CBS foreign correspondent could “turn her into a target” should she return to war reporting.

Janet Leissner, who ran the CBS Washington bureau for eight years until 2009, said that Logan may risk copycat attacks now that she’s “very well known,” reports the New York Post.

She told London’s Daily Mail: “[Logan's] tough as nails and a very tenacious woman and I have no doubt she will be thinking about coming back. But CBS has to sit back and ask: ‘Will she become a target?’”

Leissner said Logan had once been “roughed up” in Baghdad and left with broken teeth and a bloody mouth, but carried on with her work.

“Lara is a very strong woman and I wish the best for her,” she added. “I think she’s going to have to take a very strong measure of herself, she has a family to consider and I don’t know how that’s going to weigh on her in terms of her responsibilities as a mother.” (ANI)
