Syed Ali Shah Geelani wants Pakistan to step-up diplomatic efforts

SRINAGAR - The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has urged Pakistan to compel India to take urgent steps for amicable settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Talking to Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner, Zulfiqar Gardezi, who called on him along with other diplomats from the Pakistan mission, Geelani asked Pakistan to step up its diplomatic efforts to highlight the Kashmir dispute at the international level.

He said that India and Pakistan would also be able check big power interference in the region by resolving the Kashmir issue.

Meanwhile, Geelani in a statement backed JKLF call for a strike today on the anniversary of the execution of its founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat.

He also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Abdul Aziz Dar.

He said that the Hurriyat leaders were being denied proper medical treatment and other basic amenities. (ANI)
