Indian Railways Focuses On Belur Math

KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Union Railway minister Mamata Banerjee is keen on building a positive image among the intellectuals as is evident from her recent activities. Under her instruction Indian railways has come up with special trains dedicated to pay tribute to the memories of stalwarts like Mother Teresa and Rabindranath Tagore. She laid the foundation stone for the construction of a rail link which will connect Belur with Belur Math. This will enable the devotees to reach the Ramkrishna Mission easily. The railways minister also laid the foundation stone at the Belur math station where a multi-purpose complex and car parking lot will come up in near future. This will also help the people staying in suburbs to reach the ashram from various places easily. Now the passengers need to change the train at Liluah station but this will not be the case. Belur Math is regarded as the global headquarters of Ramkrishna Mission. The minister said “People come to Ramkrishna Math from various parts of the world. And the new line covering a distance of one km would benefit the devotees visiting Ramkrishna Math at Belur”.
The Indian Railways is keen on preserving the heritage structures of Belur Math said the minister. A 1500 square meter parking lot will be built near the Math as it has been decided. This will thwart the damages caused by vehicular pollution.
Ramakrishna Mission’s general secretary Swami Prabhananda was all praise for the move taken by the Indian railways. The minister also said that in her life she draws inspiration from the writings of Swami Vivekananda. She also said that those writings have given her a positive attitude.
