KUALA LUMPUR - Prostitution business in Geylang, Singapore, witnessed a rise during the Chinese New Year break with the influx of call girls from Indonesia, it has emerged.
The Chinese Press reported that the flesh trade had also benefited several budget hotels whose operators increased their room rates.
According to The New Paper, the usual room rate of 45 Singaporean dollars per night went up to 70 Singaporean dollars between Feb 2 and Feb 4, reports the Star Online.
Although police had installed 12 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras between Lorong 12 and Lorong 22 in Geylang, it did not deter the call girls from soliciting their “business prospects”.
Angie from Indonesia was standing right below a CCTV camera when she was touting for customers.
The 20-year-old, who had arrived in Singapore on a social visit pass, said she planned to leave after the Chinese New Year celebrations. (ANI)
