CHENNAI - The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Janata Party are at war, at least verbally, over the 2G scam.

While DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi said here on Sunday that he has sent a legal notice to Janata Party president Subramaniam Swamy, demanding an immediate retraction of a statement in which he linked the former with the 2G scam, the latter said that if such a notice were to be received by him, the appropriate place for it would be the dust bin.

Swamy said this evening that he is yet to receive the legal notice.

Buzz up!”If I’ll receive any legal notice from Karunanidhi, I’ll throw that (legal notice) in dust bin,” Swamy said when asked about the “rumour”.

Karunanidhi said Swamy must retract his statement within 24 hours.

Swamy stated:, “It (news) seems that Mr. Karunanidhi does not have any sense of law.”

He also continued as saying, “If he (Karuna) sends any legal notice over my statement in court, it will be a wastage of paper, money and time.”

Karunanidhi’s notice, reportedly issued through his counsel P R Raman, comes a day after Swamy’s plea in a Delhi court for continuance of his private complaint in the 2G case, seeking to claim that it covered a wider canvas of “involvement” of the DMK patriarch.

Swamy said that he intends to file an application seeking to impale Karunanidhi in the case as there was sufficient evidence to that effect.

Despite Swamy’s denial, the notice, which was issued to Swamy’s Chennai residential and official address, was released to the media by the DMK secretariat.

The legal notice claimed that the statement by Swamy was made “recklessly” with the intention of causing “serious injury” to Karunanidhi’s image and reputation. (ANI)
