BJP sticks to demand for JPC probe into 2G scam

CHENNAI - Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Friday insisted on a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum scam, saying larger governance issues were involved and government never said why it was against it.
“Our demand for JPC probe is not just regarding Raja (former Telecom Minister), but there are larger issues of governance involved in this, such as role of corporates. So our demand for a JPC stands,” Swaraj told reporters here.
As regards the smooth running of Parliament during the budget session, Swaraj said the session would go on well if their demand for a JPC into the scam was met.
“If the government concedes the demand for JPC then the Parliament will run. But otherwise, suppose they do not concede, all our NDA partners will sit on the eve of the Budget Assembly Session either on 19 or 20 and then we will formulate our strategy. We are the principal opposition alliance. And we have to take such decisions in consultation with our alliance partners,” She added.
The upcoming budget session of Parliament in the last week of February is set to be stormy, with opposition parties refusing to relent over the demand of a Joint Parliament Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G scam. (ANI)
