HARRISBURG - A US woman, nicknamed “Jihad Jane”, has pleaded guilty in Pennsylvania to conspiring to support terrorists and to kill a person in a foreign country.

Colleen LaRose was arrested in 2009 for trying to recruit Islamic fighters and for plotting to assassinate a Swedish artist, Lars Vilks, who apparently made fun of Prophet Muhammad.

The federal indictment claims that LaRose was obsessed with online preachings of Islamic radicals, and started raising funds for them and also helped them recruit people in the disguise of “Jihad Jane” and “Fatima Rose.”

According to prosecutors, she had managed to recruit a lady named Jamie Paulin-Ramirez from Leadville, Colorado. Later on, she moved to Ireland with her young son and married a terror suspect from Algeria.

The 47-year-old is also accused of stealing another individual’s US passport and transferring it in an effort to facilitate an act of international terrorism.

In a court in Philadelphia, LaRose spoke only to confirm that she was in sound mind and had voluntarily entered her plea.

She now faces a potential life sentence and a million dollar fine. (ANI)
