VARANASI - Union Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid has said that the dues of weavers should be waived off on the line of farmers.

Addressing a weavers’ convention organised by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee here on Saturday, Khurshid said that a package should be finalised in this regard.

“The issue of waiving electricity bill is the responsibility of the state government however we are trying to waive their loans and not electricity bills. This will not happen if I or anyone else asks for it,” he added.

He also advocated a quota for the weavers.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi and former Chief Minister Ram Naresh Yadav also addressed the gathering. (ANI)
