Nagpur International Marathon held to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi

NAGPUR - The third edition of the Nagpur International Marathon was organized here on Sunday to pay homage to ‘Father of the Nation’, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 63rd death anniversary.

The event was flagged off by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Chavan said that it was great to see the zeal and enthusiasm among the participants of the marathon.

“This successful third edition of Nagpur International Marathon has been organized to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Many local lawmakers, government servants and people of the city have participated with lot of enthusiasm,” Chavan said.

Participants on the other hand had gala time running in the event and they enjoyed the cultural programme organized at the marathon.

“We really enjoyed participating in marathon, we were feeling very good. We also enjoyed the programmes organized in the event,” said Anita, a participant.

The marathon was won by Juan Kenny, a Korean athlete. (ANI)
