Afghan-Pak-US talks on peace efforts in Afghanistan to be held next month: Qureshi

LAHORE - Trilateral talks among Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United States on the Afghan peace efforts will be held in Washington next month, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said.

Talking to reporters at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Qureshi said a ministerial level meeting of the three states struggling for regional peace was scheduled to discuss developments in Afghanistan, the Daily Times reported.

The ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan would present their respective viewpoints to chalk out a future line of action, he added.

Regarding the purpose of talks, Qureshi said the meeting was scheduled to update each other on the latest developments, and that all-out efforts would be made by the trio to achieve maximum tangible results.

The Foreign Minister also said that Islamabad’s relations with Kabul were improving with each passing day, and that his Afghan counterpart would soon visit Pakistan to discuss peace efforts.

He had invited the Afghan Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan to discuss the ways and means to further improve bilateral relations between both nations, Qureshi added. (ANI)
