Wills, Kate’s daughter could be Queen

LONDON - If Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first child is a girl, she would become the Queen, under a change in the royal succession laws being discussed by the British Government.
Ministers, who began talks to reform the system, said the rule of primogeniture, under which females are currently superceded in the line of succession by younger male siblings, might be ‘discriminatory’, reports the Telegraph.
The 1701 Act of Settlement, which bans Catholics from the throne and bars monarchs from marrying Catholics, is also under discussion.
The Cabinet Office said talks had been held with Commonwealth countries that would be affected by changes in the laws of succession.
Lorely Burt, a Liberal Democrat MP, has tabled a Commons motion calling on the government to ‘end these outdated, sexist and anti-Catholic aspects of the constitution’. (ANI)
