Heavy Snowfall Arrests Japan

TOKYO, JAPAN (GaeaTimes.com)- The harsh winter is not only affecting the USA and European countries, the Asian countries are also bearing its brunt. Japan is reeling under heavy snowfall which has thrown public life out of gear for the last few days. Since Sunday some parts of Japan have got 8 feet of snow. The famous Bullet trains of Japan are being forced to run slowly and Japanese car giant Toyota has closed a dozen factories. Central Japan Railway reported that the disruptions in the service of Shinkansen or the bullet train has affected almost 67000 commuters since Sunday. At least 75 trains were running late by 2 hours said the railway authorities. The commuters were taken aback as the train service runs at right time otherwise.
Toyota Motors in Japan had to shut down 12 factories on Monday as heavy snowfall hampered transporting car parts to the factory premises. A lot of areas in japan were blanketed by snow on Monday and transport services were hampered heavily. The Sea of japan was where 100 cm of snowfall took place and highway travel and rail transport was affected in Central Japan. Toyota said in a statement that it is expecting to commence operations by Tuesday and employees should be able to report for work by then. Commuters who tried to avail the Tomei Expressway on Monday faced problems as parts of it were closed owing to the snowfall.
The weather experts said that Tuesday onwards the ‘heavy‘ weather condition is going to improve. Toyota spokespersons however said that owing to this temporarily closure the production flow will not be affected much.
