ISLAMABAD - A 70-year-old British man died of kidney failure in Pakistan following his arrest for suspected arson, a police office has said.
The investigating officer, Fazlur Rehman, said the man was arrested earlier this month in the northwestern city of Abbottabad for allegedly setting fire to a room in his guesthouse.
After being arrested, the man fell sick in prison and was shifted to a hospital, where he died on Monday.
The British Embassy in Islamabad confirmed that a British national died in police custody, but declined to provide further details because officials were trying to contact his relatives. (ANI)
